Thomas Locke Hobbs
Hi! Thanks for visiting. I'm an American photographer living in Buenos Aires. These are photos from the blog I kept on my site from 2003 to 2009. I now have redesigned the home page to just show a portfolio of my current work. I also blog at BuenosAiresPhotographer.com where I post my baires snapshots.
1000th Post
I started this blog on June 8th, 2003 with this photo of a music store on 74th street in Jackson Heights, NYC. This is my 1000th blog post. I thought I'd repost some of my favorite pictures.
Virgin statue in Montreal
The 7-train yard in Queens
Jake Shears of the Scissor Sisters performing at PS1 in July 2004. If you do a google image search for Jake Shears this picture is on the first page. As a result this image is the single most downloaded image from my entire archive.
Dramatic coastline on the north shore of Madeira, probably the most beautiful place I've ever been. This was also my first increase in image size.
Luc on the Long Island Ferry
My grandparents in Indiana in January 2005. My grandfather passed away in 2006.
Like every good photoblogger in New York, I took many pictures of The Gates.
In early 2005 I quit my job in New York and moved to Sao Paulo for six months. That's a coxinha. I love coxinhas.
My havaianas
The boteco I used to hang out at
Sao Paulo has some really amazing graffiti murals. I also ditched the square picture format and increased the size again. Horray for cheap bandwidth!
Bryan & Luc in Paris
Marrakesh
I returned to my home state of California in early 2006. Here's Point Lobos.
NorCal = Old Fashion Donuts from Safeway
Weekend trips to Vegas
Hiking in redwood forests
My mom
My aunt Diane
I still go back to New York every year for Gay Pride so I can take pictures of my friend Jesse and his whole gang as they dress up and crash the parade. More pics on Flickr.
I figured as long as I was living in California, I should drive a convertible. I miss that Miata.
My brother Will and his wife Karen all dressed up to go to a wedding
My dad, who lives in LA
I went back to Sao Paulo over Christmas in 2006 to see Vagner again. We met in 2005.
This is the last photo of me and my mom together.
In June of 2007 my nephew Oliver was born. We were all very happy our mom got to meet him. She passed away two months later in September.
Early in 2008 I quit my job and moved to South America. Here's me, Vagner and a bunch of his friends at a Karoke bar in Sao Paulo for his goodbye. We were moving to Buenos Aires together.
So now we live in Buenos Aires. And yes, the steak here is very good.
And here's our apartment.
Hi. I'm a 33 year-old American currently living in Buenos Aires. Before that I lived in California, Sao Paulo and New York and if you browse through the archives below you can see photos of all those places. Currently I'm posting most of my pictures on BuenosAiresPhotographer.com. I also have an old geocities page with some outdated information but also more photos of Buenos Aires, friends and my 9/11 pictures.
