Hi! Thanks for visiting. I'm an American photographer living in Buenos Aires. These are photos from the blog I kept on my site from 2003 to 2009. I now have redesigned the home page to just show a portfolio of my current work. I also blog at BuenosAiresPhotographer.com where I post my baires snapshots.
Folsom
I'm near San Francisco so I might as well go to Folsom.
White Trash
My brother was up for the weekend to go thru some stuff so I just brought him along.
I feel that Folsom is an over-photographed event and there's little value that I can add. Even the naked people had cameras. There was this one guy wearing just flip-flops and a late-model, Nikon dSLR with a very long zoom lens.
Even the dogs got in on the action
I was also with my friends Courtney and Walter. We took this back at their apartment in Noe Valley which has great views and great light.
Chicago
On Friday at 6pm I bought a ticket to Chicago for the weekend and by midnight I was on a red eye flight to Midway
My reason for going was my good friend from France, Jean Denis, who was in town for a sales conference. We go back to '99 when we both lived in Buenos Aires. I even moved into his apartment when he left. He's a close, dear friend but I don't get to see him that often so I jumped at the chance to only travel half a continent to see him. Here he proudly shows off is Obama pin. He'll hate me for posting this photo, and not for the pin.
Jean Denis was also there to see his friend Daniel, who I met back in 2004 when we both went to Mexico City to visit Jean Denis, where he was living at the time.
I haven't been to Chicago since I was 10. I've been meaning to go for awhile. The weather was perfect--like any other day in San Jose but I was conscious that it was something special. Our sightseeing was necessarily superficial but still fun. We went to the top of the John Hancock tower which, with the Sears Tower are like the Dark Leather Lords of the Chicago Skyline. Seriously, how the fuck could they think these would be nice additions? They're like Darth Vader and Mini-me. And people live in this building. At least they're looking out. And it is a nice view from the top.

Dan on Michigan Avenue in Chicago
Here's me in that same spot. I like it when the sun reflects off of glass skyscrapers. It creates this theatrical-type lighting that seems very unreal for the outdoors.
Anish Kapoor's Cloud Gate sculpture in Millennium Park. A steady stream of brides & grooms mingled with skater kids and random tourists.
This is from the underside of the sculpture
Me, Jean Denis & Dan
At brunch on Sunday at Minibar--Dan and his friend Bill from Milwaukie
Jean Denis was taking pictures with my camera, expressing his artistic imperative, and snapped this photo of our cute waiter. More Jean Denis: 2004.10.17, 2005.12.18, 2005.12.25
My mom passed away on Sept. 8th after a two year battle with lung cancer [she never smoked]. The funeral was this past Saturday in Dinuba, CA, a small agricultural town near Fresno where she grew up.
The funeral was at her graveside at Smith Mountain Cemetery, just outside of town and facing the Sierra Foothills. In a week or so I'll be publishing more photos of Mom on the flickr account I set up for her.
Buried nearby are my grandparents, Bill & Vivienne Locke
My mom's cousin Stephen with my brother Will
Oliver, Lorraine, Karen & Will in my aunt Diane's living room
My cousins Margo and Chuck
This is either called a sopa de letras or a loteria didactica [please correct me here if i'm wrong]. It's not exactly politically correct by American sensibilites. It was back-to-school season and many street vendors had kid/student related stuff.
Hi. I'm a 33 year-old American currently living in Buenos Aires. Before that I lived in California, Sao Paulo and New York and if you browse through the archives below you can see photos of all those places. Currently I'm posting most of my pictures on BuenosAiresPhotographer.com. I also have an old geocities page with some outdated information but also more photos of Buenos Aires, friends and my 9/11 pictures.
