I needed a new pair of shoes. I went to Macy's. And I wanted to see all the security around the convention. I skipped the protest and for the first few days of the convention gingerly avoided Penn Station and Union Square. I needed to satisfy my curiosity; to observe first-hand this massive security theatre in the heart of Manhattan. Things were pretty calm on Wednesday night. I had no trouble walking along 34th street and into shops. I was even surprised to find some of them crowded [it is back-to-school week and a salestax holiday]. After buying my new shoes I had a burrito at Chipotle on 8th & 34th. The place was full of press people with credentials.
