Hi! Thanks for visiting. I'm an American photographer living in Buenos Aires. These are photos from the blog I kept on my site from 2003 to 2009. I now have redesigned the home page to just show a portfolio of my current work. I also blog at BuenosAiresPhotographer.com where I post my baires snapshots.
There's been some crabby yapping about the replacement of the old Walk/Don't Walk signs around New York. I have to say that I'm quite a fan of the new signs' blinding luminescence. They're like little outposts of Times Square, scattered across the city. Also, according to the official press release, they'll
actually save the city a lot of money.Eduardo Galeano, Uruguayan writer of the incomparable Memory of Fire trilogy, has an instructive piece about the historical roots of the present crisis in Bolivia.
49th St & 7th Ave on the N,R,W. According
to Forgotten NY's Modern Subway page, this
was the first of the Burnt Orange stations
and the groovy color was chosen by Philip
Johnson himself.I would love to see an apartment building
clad in this shocking color instead of usual
white-glazed brick.
More Chelsea gallery hopping. A cute installation of
sculputres by Donald Lipski on 26th St. Here is an article
with photos of other sculptures and another jargon-full
artforum essay. Some photos of Bolivia, as the country descends
into chaos. The New Yorker ran a good story about
water privatization which shows the resentment
generated by well-intentioned programs run corruptly.
It's good for understanding the context of the present
crisis.
Richard Serra sculptures currently on view at Gagosian
in Chelsea thru 10/25/03. In the same style as the Torqued
Spirals now on view at Dia Beacon. My friend Andrew
compared the affect of walking inside of these to ascending
the Duomo in Florence between the interior and exterior domes
as they bend and and converge at the top.
The newly rebranded Lukoil on 10th & 24th.
I missed Vladamir Putin's recent visit for a donut.Back in New York.
Summer´s all gone in Bryant Park. Some BID´s
got a lot of money to resod the entire lawn but
I guess that´s an after-effect of the fashion shows. The fact that i´m in madrid right now writing this
belies the fact that the pics on this blog are always
about a week behind.
Garages, New York.
In Madrid right now. Hola. I do see that this
internet place has a usb port. perhaps uploading
photos mid-journey is feasible. something to
remember.
Governor's Island, Pt. 3
I've put all these pictures on a separate page.
I'm off to Spain until 10/13 so postings
will be sparse. I won't be posting any pics
of Spain when I get back either. Digital
cameras just aren't for traveling longer than
a weekend. Instead I'll be using my trusted
Olympus XA, still my favorite small camera.
Hi. I'm a 33 year-old American currently living in Buenos Aires. Before that I lived in California, Sao Paulo and New York and if you browse through the archives below you can see photos of all those places. Currently I'm posting most of my pictures on BuenosAiresPhotographer.com. I also have an old geocities page with some outdated information but also more photos of Buenos Aires, friends and my 9/11 pictures.
